Bunnahabhain Staoisha Heavily Peated Very Cloudy Signatory Vintage
Bunnahabhain Staoisha Heavily Peated Very Cloudy Signatory Vintage
Description
Bunnahabhain Staoisha Heavily Peated Very Cloudy Signatory Vintage is a whiskey produced in Scotland from the Islay appellation.
The Bunnahabhain distillery was founded in 1881, the same year as Bruichladdich north-east of Islay, whose architecture is inspired by Bordeaux castles. The name Bunnahabhain means in Gaelic by mouth, because Bunnah is placed at the mouth of the Margadale River. Unlike most of the Islay rivers, the waters of the Margadale run on a bed of stones instead of peat. So it is not at all peated water that is used for making Bunnahabhain whiskey. Bunnahbhain malt is one of the major components of the famous Black Bottle, a blend of malts from the different distilleries of Islay and Port Askaig.
Andrew Symington established his whiskey trading house in 1998 in Newhave, Scotland. It is under the Signatory Vintage brand, identifiable with its large S in character evoking the medieval era, that this brand has developed, with single cask strength malts (Cask Strength) and without cold filtering and very often uncoloured. 'Andrew Symington really knew the consecration. Many amateurs have refined their knowledge of a distillery by tasting these malts in the practically most natural state. Each bottle is numbered and signed manually. Since 1992, a small bottling line has enabled Signatory Vintage to control the entire process. In order to further increase their knowledge of whiskey, Signatory Vintage became the owner of the Edradour distillery.
