Trois Rivières Cuvée de l'Océan is a distinctive white agricole rum produced in Martinique from fresh sugarcane juice.
The sugarcane comes exclusively from the Anse Trabaud plot, located on the island's southern Atlantic coastline. This coastal origin gives the cuvée its distinctive maritime identity.
Produced under the Martinique AOC designation and distilled in a traditional Creole column, this white rum is bottled at 42% ABV.
Its crystal-clear appearance introduces an expressive bouquet of sugarcane flowers, fresh vegetation and delicate mineral and iodine notes.
On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, combining fresh sugarcane flavours with an unusual saline character.
The finish is long, mineral and subtly maritime.
Ideal for an original Ti' Punch, this rum can also be enjoyed neat or paired with oysters and shellfish.
It is a fascinating expression of Martinique's coastal sugarcane terroir.
Description
Trois Rivières Cuvée de l'Océan is a remarkable white agricole rum from Martinique, distinguished by its coastal sugarcane origin and unusual mineral, iodine and saline tasting profile.
The historic Trois Rivières estate is located in Sainte-Luce, in southern Martinique, with a heritage dating back to the seventeenth century.
For this particular expression, the producer selects sugarcane grown exclusively on the Anse Trabaud plot, near the Atlantic coastline at the southern end of the island.
This sun-exposed location, influenced by its maritime surroundings, provides the inspiration for the rum's distinctive character.
Unlike traditional molasses-based rums, Cuvée de l'Océan is made entirely from fresh sugarcane juice.
After extraction, the juice undergoes fermentation before being distilled in a traditional Creole column, in accordance with the production principles of Martinique AOC agricole rum.
The producer uses fermentation techniques designed to develop the distinctive aromatic profile of this cuvée.
As a white rum, it is not matured in oak barrels. Its aromatic expression therefore focuses on fresh sugarcane, fermentation-derived flavours and the characteristics associated with its coastal origin.
Bottled at 42% alcohol by volume, the rum displays a perfectly clear, crystalline appearance.
The nose opens with attractive aromas of sugarcane flowers and fresh vegetation.
Delicate mineral and iodine notes gradually emerge, accompanied by subtle hints of yeast and freshly baked bread.
On the palate, Cuvée de l'Océan is rich, powerful and generously textured.
Fresh sugarcane flavours combine with unusual saline sensations, creating a distinctive maritime character.
The finish is long and persistent, revealing mineral, vegetal and lightly salty nuances.
The cuvée received a gold medal at the 2018 Concours Général Agricole in Paris, recognising its quality among Martinique AOC white agricole rums.
For tasting, it can be enjoyed neat in a tulip-shaped glass to appreciate its aromatic complexity.
It also makes an excellent Ti' Punch, where lime enhances its freshness and maritime character.
For an original food pairing, try it alongside oysters, prawns or fresh shellfish.
This rum Trois Rivières Cuvée de l'Océan is a distinctive expression of Martinique agricole rum, highlighting the relationship between sugarcane origin and aromatic identity.
