Benedict Cucumberbatch from Brasserie Chromatique is an original craft beer that puts a new spin on the American IPA style with a combination that is as surprising as it is refreshing: cucumber and tarragon. Brewed on the Opal Coast, this 6.5% beer reveals an intensely herbal aroma where fresh cucumber blends with the aniseed notes of tarragon. The hops add a pleasant citrus note and a subtle bitterness that lingers into a crisp, thirst-quenching finish. An ideal beer for summer days, aperitifs and light, fresh dishes.
Description
Based on the Opal Coast, Brasserie Chromatique has built a solid reputation thanks to its creative recipes and modern approach to craft beer. With Benedict Cucumberbatch – a tongue-in-cheek nod to the famous British actor – the brewers have created an American IPA that truly breaks the mould. This creation combines the natural freshness of cucumber with the aromatic finesse of tarragon, whilst retaining the characteristics of a contemporary IPA.
Its slightly cloudy golden colour is topped with a generous white head. From the very first whiff, the aromas of freshly cut cucumber dominate before giving way to the herbaceous notes of tarragon, mandarin zest, citrus and a slight resinous touch provided by the American hops. On the palate, the attack is fresh and thirst-quenching. The cucumber lends a great deal of lightness, whilst the tarragon elegantly highlights the aromatic profile without masking the malty flavours. The finish reveals a subtle, lingering bitterness that immediately invites you to take another sip.
Served at between 6 and 8 °C, this beer is the perfect accompaniment to sushi, ceviche, oysters, grilled fish, summer salads, crunchy vegetables, fresh cheeses and Mediterranean cuisine. An original beer that will appeal to IPA enthusiasts seeking new taste experiences.
