Click and collect: your questions

Why do I have to collect my order in France?

Wine, beer and spirits are taxed much more heavily in the UK than in France. To buy at French prices, the sale has to take place in France: you pay and collect in our shops, then bring the bottles home within your personal allowance. Delivered to a UK address, the same bottles would carry UK duty and VAT.

Can I collect at either shop?

Yes. Choose Calais Vins or Olivier Vins when you place your order.

Do I need the free crossing to use click and collect?

No. Click and collect is open to every order. The free P&O crossing is an extra for orders of €300 or more.

Can I taste before I buy?

Yes. Tasting is free in our shops, so you can try a wine before adding it to your order.

Can I add more bottles when I collect?

Yes. Your online order is ready, and you can shop the rest of the store as usual. Just keep an eye on your allowance.

Can I claim the VAT back on a click and collect order?

Yes, if the total is over €100 and you show your passport when you collect. The bottles must leave the EU unopened.
