When Is Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 Released?

- Categories : The Wine Calais Blog

Every November, wine lovers across France — and increasingly from the UK — eagerly await the third Thursday of the month. That’s when the Beaujolais Nouveau officially bursts onto the scene.

Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 will be released at 00:01 on Thursday, 20 November 2025.

This official date — set by decree since 1985 — guarantees that the wine is released simultaneously across the world, just a few weeks after the harvest. It's France’s youngest wine, full of fruit and freshness, best enjoyed straight away. As they say every year: “Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé !”

Why Beaujolais Nouveau is Worth the Hype

  • It’s the first taste of the new French wine vintage — bottled just weeks after harvest.
  • Made using the carbonic maceration method, which brings juicy red fruit flavours and soft tannins.
  • Best served slightly chilled — a perfect pairing for cheese, charcuterie, or good company.

A National Celebration with a Global Twist

The tradition started in the 1950s and became official in 1985: every third Thursday of November at 00:01, Beaujolais Nouveau is released. From Paris to Calais, Tokyo to London, wine bars, shops and bistros celebrate together — and now you can too.

  • Serve between 12–14 °C to highlight the wine’s fruitiness and freshness.

  • Pair with cured meats, soft cheeses, roast chicken, or mushroom dishes.

Where to Buy Beaujolais Nouveau 2025

Calais Vins & Olivier Vins are ready to welcome you for the big day. Discover our specially selected 2025 vintage in-store — and take advantage of our Winter Wine Offers: 20% off + Free Ferry.

Our team, led by sommelier Jérôme Pont, focuses on cuvées with longer maceration — meaning you get a wine that’s both vibrant today and elegant tomorrow.

Tradition Meets Storytelling

Around our tasting bar, Jérôme often shares the rebellious origins of Beaujolais Nouveau — a wine born from the vineyards of southern Burgundy and a legal twist in 1951. Made only from Gamay Noir, these wines offer aromas of raspberry, red cherry, and soft spice. Gone are the days of banana-flavoured clichés — today’s Nouveau is fresher, finer, and proudly French.

Featured Wine of the Year: Domaine de l’Hestrange

Our top pick for 2025 is Domaine de l’Hestrange’s Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 — a joyful, fruit-forward wine from one of the most authentic Beaujolais producers. Taste it in-store and discover a perfect expression of the Gamay grape.
