The Arran distillery is the only distillery on the island of Arran, located in Lochranza. The Arran distillery is the only distillery on the island of Arran, located in Lochranza. The creation dates from 1995 under the leadership of Harold Currie a former senior executive of Chivas and Pernod Ricard. The Arran distillery was authorized to name whiskey the fruit of its activity only in 1998. Due to lack of space, part of the production is stored and aged in the Springbank cellars. The style of Arrran whiskeys is unpeated, slightly influenced by the marine proximity with iodine and saline notes. The structure is supple and fruit notes appear. The more the distillery grows, the more different finishes that each time (until now) really bring. A bit of history, in the 19th century it is said that there were about 50 distilleries all clandestines, the remoteness of the island made the controls difficult. The production of Arran Island was as desirable as the Glenlivet whiskeys.

Arran whiskey is also used in the composition of Blends including Robert Burns and Loch Ranza. the island of Arran is nicknamed Scotland in miniature, it is a beautiful place to visit where all the landscapes of Scotland are found in a few km ². Arran served as a model for Hergé, Tintin's father, to draw his famous Black Island.
