Niepoort's Port Tawny is the best way to discover this house which has made Tawnies and Colheita its great specialty. This Niepoort's Tawny has a beautiful shiny color, the nose offers nutty aromas and notes of dried fruit. It is not for nothing that the nickname of Dirk Niepoort is the "Pope of Tawny". The grapes come from low production vines in the Cima Corgo region located in the Douro Valley. A relatively young wine, the fruit of a blend of wines from different harvests, which ages on average three and a half years in small oak barrels (Pipas) in the Niepoort cellars, in Vila Nova de Gaia. Porto Tawny keeps well for several years, although it does not improve with age. It has no deposit and does not need to be decanted.
