The Indian distillery Amrut is self-sufficient when it comes to the barley it malts in India. The style desired by Amrut is similar to the great tradition of Scottish Highland whiskeys with notes of fruit and sweet spices due to aging in bourbon barrels. Originally the Amrut distillery distilled Rum and Brandy (alcohol obtained by distillation of fermented grape juice then aged in barrels) since the 1940s.
