This whiskey is a Japanese whiskey. Japanese whiskey is above all a love story between Japan and Scotland, it started thanks to Mr Masataka Taketsuru at the beginning of the 20th century. This man was sent on a study trip to Scotland by his employer Suntory, met Miss Rita Cowan there and returned to the country with the desire to get married and the idea of producing whiskey. It was good, his employer Suntory, then only a sake producer, wanted to diversify his activities. Nowadays Japan is a recognized producer of whiskey, not only for the quantity but also for the quality of its whiskeys, regularly awarded in competitions.
