Glendronach

Do you know Glendronach Whiskeys?

Glendronach (the valley of the brambles, or valley of blackberries in Gaelic) is a Highland distillery founded in 1826. Like all distilleries it has had a rather chaotic life and has lived in dormancy. The highlight of recent years is the takeover in 2008 of the latter from the Pernod Ricard group by the Benriach distillery managed by Billy, the former director of Burn Stewart, a big name in whiskey in Scotland. The same recipes as for benriach were applied with the exploitation of the treasures still contained in the cellars and the creation of a very varied range in styles of single malts.

Glendronach whiskey quite a powerful style

Glendronach offers a fairly powerful style of whiskey mostly aged in sherry barrels (although trials in bourbon barrels have been carried out). Glendronach generally offers notes of candied fruit cake, prunes, orange, figs, and nuts. It is not impossible to think of a Glendronach as a digestif. Rumor has it that Glengronach's reputation in Edinburgh was made one evening of "business failure", the owner was walking through the streets and was accosted by 2 prostitutes. He gave each of them a bottle of Glendronach which they tasted around. Quickly thanks to the intervention of these young ladies, almost all the pubs of the Royal Mile offered Glendronach.
