Isle of Mull Single Malt Whiskeys Tobermory Ledaig. The Isle of Mull is located between Skye and Islay, this western Scottish island has only one distillery in Tobermory, the Ledaig distillery. This island had a leading role in fishing but it is now to tourism that economic activity is turning. It is common to confuse Tobermory and Ledaig, these 2 whiskeys come from the same distillery, but one is peaty, it's Ledaig while the other is not at all it's Tobermory. Although located on an island Mull's whiskeys are classified as Highlands. Its marine, iodized and sometimes peaty style would be closer to skye whiskeys, ie to an ilian identity. It is said that the survivors of the Knights Templar who fled France would have arrived in Scotland on the Isle of Mull, from where all the history is left.
